Since 2013
Business owner Richard Cowan has 40+ years’ experience importing tools and saws for the engineering industry in New Zealand. Growler Tools was launched in response to customers’ remarks of their frustration at the quality of locking pliers available. They felt the quality had slipped and there were many requests to supply a high quality range of locking pliers. The industry was ready and waiting for a quality product to hit the market again.
We took on board the comments made as to what our customers wanted. First and foremost was a quality product that would not fail during a job, causing frustration and wasting staff time.
When we started
After considerable research and development the range of Growler Locking Pliers was introduced to the New Zealand market in 2013. Based on a quality American product no longer available, modifications were made to fit the criteria of our New Zealand customers. Prototypes were put to the test by those who would end up using them to be sure we were on the right track.
Sold directly to our trade customers, Growler Locking Pliers and Clamps are made for us to our own specification using quality materials. Made of chrome molybdenum or chrome vanadium, model dependent, the tools are stamped with our trade marked logo so you can be sure the product you are buying is a genuine Growler Tool. Every factory run is checked for consistency and quality before being shipped to New Zealand.
We believe it is important to listen to our customers’ needs and with this in mind continue to develop additional items to add to our range.
